Welcome to the official website of St Mewan Parish Council

St Mewan (Sen Mewen) is a civil parish and village in south Cornwall.
The village is approximately one-mile (1.6 km) west of St Austell. It is a small settlement, comprising of the parish church, a school and nearby farms. St Mewan parish includes the villages of Sticker with Hewas Water, most of Polgooth with Trelowth and Trewoon.

St Mewan Parish Council is responsible for an electorate of approximately 3000 people with 13 Councillors who serve as the local authority that makes decisions on behalf of the people in the parish.

It is the first tier of local government closest to the community and the people. For this reason, they are a vital part of any community.

And they are off! A very big thank you to Jan Cooper for organising a voluntary Litter Pick in Sticker, Hewaswater and Trelowth. We've missed you! Thank you also to Geoff Oswald and the Lions Club who had the early start and missed the big cheesy grins. Chairman of the Parish Council John Kneller was delighted to hand over the 12 hi vis vests and litter grabbers purchased - no more chasing equipment Jan!. With the continued success of the community group of litter pick volunteers in Sticker and Jan Cooper taking the lead, it was agreed at the September meeting they should have their own equipment purchased by the Parish Council. The Parish Council have been considering how to best manage the car park and its insurance obligations in Sticker for some time. We are regularly contacted by local residents regarding a number of issues - potholes, signage, lack of capacity, long term parking, abandoned vehicles, people using it as a park and ride to Truro and the poor condition of the garden area.
